Meet Our Board

The Denton Calvary Academy School Board provides the school with transparent and trustworthy overall guidance and ensures the Principal fulfills the vision and mission of the school. To accomplish this, the Board meets regularly with Mrs. Baxter, the board’s one employee, to monitor and set overall school policy.

Gary & Lynn Calmes

Board Members

Gary and Lynn have been married since 2001 and have three children. Gary is a CPA and CFP® who has his own tax and investment practice in Denton. Lynn, a former public middle and high school English teacher, currently teaches sophomore English at DCA. Gary and Lynn met at Denton Bible Church, where they continue to serve in mentoring and children’s ministries. They enjoy traveling with family and attending DCA sporting events together. Gary appreciates coffee and conversation, especially with older men who share their wisdom and experience. He has served on the board of Upper Trinity Regional Water District since 2009 and has been involved in men’s ministry for several years. Before returning to the classroom, Lynn stayed home with their children and supported Gary’s business as his assistant. She loves to read, specifically classic literature and memoirs, and enjoys volunteering at church and school. Gary and Lynn chose DCA because they wanted their children to receive a quality education taught from a biblical worldview. They appreciate DCA’s university model, which has allowed them to play a central role in their children’s education and has also given their family the gift of time.

Zach & Leanne Rozell

Board Members

Zach and Leanne Rozell are happily married and have four energetic boys. Zach’s business deals with teacher certification, and Leanne is challenged and rewarded by being the person at home with their children. The Rozells attend the Village Church in Denton and serve in the Pre-Marital counseling ministry. They have a beautiful love story which they enjoy sharing, along with wisdom they have learned over the many years they have been married. When Zach is not at work, he spends his time staying active, coaching his boy’s ball teams and trying hard not to be the worst golfer in his family. Leanne is the (self-proclaimed) number one fan at any sporting event in which her boys play, and has a hard time reminding herself to have a gentle and QUIET spirit while in the stands. She is also currently working on a memoir, and hopes to finish summer of 2019. Zach and Leanne love The LORD first, their family second, and meshing those two loves together brought them to Calvary. Leanne’s history of growing up in a small town melted into a strong desire for her boys to have that same small school feel. Zach researched the smaller districts around the area, and a few of the private schools as well. After much prayer and a few visits to different schools, they found that Denton Calvary was the unmistakable winner for their family. Calvary’s foundation is built on Christ, and with its loving family atmosphere, they were hooked from the start. The University-Model is set up as Mrs. Baxter says, “to give time back to families.” The Rozells have taken full advantage of this gift, and they have enjoyed the extra hours together during these priceless years with their boys.

Board Members

Darren and Dayna have been married since 1999, and have four wonderful kids. Darren is an IT Manager at a healthcare company in Lewisville, and Dayna works in the finance department at First Baptist Denton. They attend Denton Bible Church where Darren serves as the Sunday Video Lead. Together they also lead the Orphan Care ministry at DBC which ministers to adoptive and foster families through various events and support groups. Darren and Dayna enjoy attending DCA’s many sporting events to watch their kids compete but also to spend time with the friends they have made while at DCA. Darren is on the Philanthropy Committee at his work where he helps organize activities and fundraisers for local charities. Darren spends his free time reading and pursuing his love of photography. Dayna is personable and fun-loving. She brightens any room with her smile and laughter. Dayna started schooling at home with their first child but soon realized the challenges that can surface when teaching your own child with reading difficulties. After much prayer and counsel, they chose DCA based on their biblically-based teaching, high academics, accessibility to a wide variation of sports options, their centrally located campus in Denton and the low teacher-to-child ratio. They are grateful to the qualified teachers who have invested in their kids. Fast forward ten years, and their first child is on pace to graduate in the top of his class thanks to DCA’s community atmosphere for growth and development.
